Glen Affric Forrest, Print

Part of our Let's Celebrate Scotland Collection, a series of prints celebrating the Scottish landscapes.  Our work is initially made from layering individual pieces of hand-cut paper, before being carefully photographed and printed onto high quality paper.

Also known as The Great Caledonian Forest, the Glen Affric woodlands are a great example of the Caledonian pinewood that once covered huge areas of Scotland.  Now, less than 1% of our native forests remain.  The decline in native forestry, and the impact this has on wildlife, was spotted all the way back in 1951 when enlightened foresters began leading the way in conservation efforts within Glen Affric. Since then, over 500,000 new native trees have been planted, provided a rich environment and an important haven for endangered wildlife.  This dedicated work resulted in Glen Affric being declared a National Nature Reserve in 2002.

In our print, we have tried to capture the tranquil feeling of being surrounded by the beautiful woodlands.  You will also spot some of the native (and endangered) wildlife, which call Glen Affric home.
