Part of our Let's Celebrate Scotland Collection, a series of prints celebrating the Scottish landscapes.  Our work is initially made from layering individual pieces of hand-cut paper, before being carefully photographed and printed onto high quality paper.

Located at Glenbrittle on the Isle of Skye, the Fairy Pools are a series of enchanting rock pools of crystal clear spring water, fed and formed by the waterfalls from the Cuillin Mountains. With vibrant blue and turquoise hues emitting from under the surface of the water, and a backdrop of rolling green hills and mountain peaks, it is easy to image fairies dwelling in these magical lands. It is also said that the Fairy Pools were inhabited by selkies; mythical creatures who would disguise themselves as seals during the day before shedding their skins to change into their human form for the night to bathe in the pools under the light of the full moon. 

Folklore also tells of the chief of the old MacLeod clan, who once married a fairy princess and honoured her by naming many locations after the fare folks, including the Fairy Bridge, which is said to have been the last location the chief has been with his fairy wife before she left to return to the Fairylands.  

Taking inspiration from these magical tails, we have depicted our Fairy Pools during that mystical moment of twilight, where you can just about still see the faint details of the Cuillin Mountains silhouetted against the sky. We have kept the Fairy Pools themselves vibrant and bright as if glowing from the magic within and bordered by smatterings of the beautiful heather which surrounds the area.

If your item is faulty or you are unhappy with your purchase, a full refund will be issued upon return of the item, in perfect condition within the original packaging, within 28 days. Please contact us at online@sdx.scot to arrange your refund.
