This unique piece has been created using cobblestones that once lined Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile. Designed primarily as a brooch, it also features a discreet sterling silver hoop, allowing it to be worn on a chain as a necklace. Rich in story and versatility, it makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves Edinburgh, history, or jewellery with meaning.

Edinburgh’s world-famous Royal Mile stretches from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace. During recent pavement-widening works, the original cobblestones were lifted and relaid. A small number of the remaining stones were carefully saved and later cut and polished into cabochons, which I have used to create a limited collection of jewellery.

The cobblestone has been set in recycled sterling silver with a decorative edge, gently darkened with a patina to enhance its detail. Formed from granite and basalt, the stone has a soft grey speckle with subtle hints of pink, making each piece beautifully individual. The reverse of the brooch has been given a matt finish.

If you would like to wear this piece as a necklace, a sterling silver chain can be added via the menu. The chain is finished with a handmade toggle clasp shaped to resemble a tiny cobblestone.

The pendant brooch measures approximately 30 × 19 mm and has been hallmarked by the Edinburgh Assay Office.

If your item is faulty or you are unhappy with your purchase, a full refund will be issued upon return of the item, in perfect condition within the original packaging, within 28 days. Please contact us at online@sdx.scot to arrange your refund.
