Sicilian Pastry Shop Giclée Print
A giclée print is high quality digital print using pigmented ink on high quantity paper. If it is a digital print but it's not giclée its probably not as good quality. Giclée prints have a long lifespan and may be expected to last between 80 to 200 years. They are archival museum quality prints.
My prints are produced at Bare Branding in Leith . I use Omega Rag 310 paper and they are printed using an Epson Surecolor SC-P9000 printer and Epson Surecolor inks.
Each print comes in a sealed cello bag with a pH neutral backing board. Corrugated card or grey card backing boards are inferior as they may leach chemicals into the print and shorten its lifespan .
This print is taken from an original oil painting measuring approximately 24 x 32 cm.
Painted on canvas using Winsor and Newton Artist quality and Micheal Harding oil paint.
It uses a restricted palette of raw sienna and slate greys and a few sparse accents of red to depict the scene.
The original oil painting was scanned using an Epson Expression 12000XL Pro A3 flatbed scanner to ensure the best quality reproduction possible.
The Sicilian Pastry Shop is a family business founded in 1979.Bassed in Leith it is much loved by locals and is a favorite goto for birthday and wedding cakes. Its cannolis are not to be missed !
This view view of the Pastry Shop was painted during the Covid pandemic when there was one out one in policy. There is a customer in the shop wearing hi vis gear so probably a construction worker working on the nearby "Trams to Newhaven" project. Outside in the gentle afternoon light the next customer waits patiently texting on their mobile phone.
This print would form a nice pair with "Storries Home Bakery"
This small A5 print will fit nicely into an A5 frame but looks even better in an A4 window mount (with an A5 aperture). Both of these options allows the prospective buyer to purchase an off the shelf frame without the expense of bespoke framing.
Each print has been signed on the back by the artist.
This is an open edition print at a modest price as I don't wish to artificially restrict the availability of my art.
This print is also avialable at The Tron Kirk Makers Market 122 High Street Edinburgh (subject to stock).
